Founded in 1973, the Pine Forest Art Centre has been providing art and craft courses to children and young people for over 40 years.
The Art Centre is situated in the picturesque Dublin Mountains in the midst of woods and streams. Over the years it has welcomed thousands of children and young people to its summer camps and exhibited their work to proud parents and friends at the end of each 2-week camp.
Junior Courses (5-12 years)
July and August 2018
Children participate in a wide variety of Art-Craft activities including pottery, painting, drawing, modelling, woodwork, enamelling, rush work and bead work. Activities are tailored to suit the age, ability and interests of the student.
Senior Courses (13-16 years)

Activities for this age group are more focused and include drawing, oil and water colour painting, design, sculpture, pottery, enamelling and other crafts.
Portfolio Preparation Courses (16-19 years)
August 2018
This course is structured to help students in developing a comprehensive portfolio. Each student has a personal work space in which to explore painting, ceramics, metal, silk painting, printing, textiles, design and life drawing, according to individual requirements.
Buses are provided, for those who may require them, from several pick-up points in South Dublin to transport the children/ young people to and from Pine Forest camps.
Speaking of activities at Pine Forest Art Centre, manager and qualified Montessori teacher Katie Long said:
“The children can get mucky, dirty, paint stained – it doesn’t matter…
“There are things like pottery that are quite difficult to do in primary school that can be easily done in Pine Forest where there is lots of space.
“We encourage the children to use lots of stuff from the environment – pieces of wood, leaves, feathers, stones.
“Also the children are outside a lot, some classes are held outside, and they can run around very safely in the playground.
“There is also a pond that is teeming with life – tadpoles and newts. The pond is always supervised and very shallow with a little wooden walkway around it.
“There is always something new to discover at Pine Forest.”
