Free Live Webinar ahead of CAO deadline

As the CAO deadline looms, students and their families are invited to a free Live Webinar with renowned careers expert, Dr Brian Mooney.

Dr Brian Mooney, Career Guidance Counsellor and Managing Editor of Ireland’s Education Yearbook, will advise on CAO matters at a live webinar on January 13.

What Students Need To Know/ Eolas rí-thábhachtach do mhicléinn is the title of the event which will be streamed live on the Mayo.ie Facebook page on Wednesday, January 13, at 7 pm.

The purpose of the webinar is to arm students and families with key information on the various options available to them upon completing their second-level education. Admission is free of charge.

“We are holding this event to help students, parents, and guardians as they make their all-important CAO choices,” said Pat Howley, Chairperson, Mayo Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) Education & Training Working Group, organisers of the event.

“Brian Mooney is a guidance counsellor with many years’ experience, and we are delighted that he will be on hand to dispense his wisdom.

“There is no need to register, just go to the webinar live on Facebook.com/mayodotie shortly before 7 pm on Wednesday, January 13.

“You can also send your questions beforehand to Liam.horan@slinuacareers.com.”

The webinar replaces the annual Mayo Careers Fair which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event is supported by Mayo County Council/Mayo.ie; MSLETB; the HSE; Mayo Local Employment Services; Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP); GMIT; Údarás na Gaeltachta; South West Mayo Development Company; Mayo North East LEADER Partnership; and Mayo Sports Partnership.

The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) 2015-2017 is funded by the Irish Government and co-funded by the European Social Fund and includes a special allocation under the Youth Employment Initiative.
