Ireland's
Education
Yearbook

Published in print and online each year in December, Ireland's Education Yearbook covers the story of education in Ireland in that particular year.

In doing this, the Yearbook constitutes:
A record: An accessible and comprehensive data and news resource, accurately and fully covering the story of education in Ireland in a particular year;
A think tank: A source of insightful commentary and blue-sky thinking on the big issues of the year in education;
A catalyst for constructive action.

Summit

The first Education Matters Virtual Summit was initiated in 2021 when COVID was rampant and people felt compelled to isolate to ensure the safety of all.

The purpose of the Virtual Summit was to facilitate - in the only way possible at that moment in time - ongoing live discussion on the vital issues presented in Ireland’s Education Yearbook 2020.

To this end, authors in Ireland’s Education Yearbook 2020 were invited to engage virtually in conversation with fellow authors within their sector to continue and expand the discussion of the vital topics discussed in the Yearbook.

This first Education Matters Virtual Summit was exceptionally well received across the education community. The highly esteemed Professor Pol O Dochartaigh, leader of the Higher Education discussion in Summit 2021 commented:

“On my own behalf and on behalf of the Higher Education sector – if I may be so bold – I want to thank Phyllis Mitchell and Brian Mooney, who are behind the Education Matters Yearbook, for their initiative in producing that publication, but also in proposing this first-ever summit based around these themes. I think it’s a splendid initiative and I really do hope it continues into the future.”
